Why is 22lr so expensive

If you need a rounds of 9mm to shoot the guy trying to break in your house you need more practice. If you think your going to the range and blowing off rds of 9mm then going to store to replace its not happening. Hoping things settle down by spring but I have my doubts. What's the point of having guns if there is no ammo to feed them? You don't need 10, rounds to kill a few game animals per season, or that intruder that you think will be breaking into your house. If people would buy ammo within reason there would be enough to go around for everyone.

Now we've got our fellow gun owners who are supposed to be these upstanding citizens gouging the hell out of the rest of us. Like Jerkman said, F them. More creeps in our ranks than most people realize. The guy at BPS told me people are buying any and all ammo they see on the shelf weather they need it or even shoot that calibre.

He said one guy wiped out a shelf early in and said he takes it to the gun auction and GunBroker and triples his money Covid and shutdowns started it , now girders the hoarders are making it worse. Its most unfortunate for folks like myself who shoot a lot for recreation not just hunting or self defense. Really takes the wind out of my sails.

That is when I would refuse to ever give him any business ever again. You're probably right, but you don't know for sure what the LGS paid for them. A post above mentions a store asking a customer if he had any for sale. I can't think of a better sales pitch currently than to be able to say, "her, buy this gun and we actually have a box of ammo that will fit it".

I have bought 2 or 3 boxes at a time over the last 30 years of my life. I too have plenty for all guns and hand guns. That is exactly why I am not buying during the current price hike. But we as sportsman are. I dont know how much you , Tom , Dick or Harry need. My point is if you have enough don't buy more.

That's whats driving the cost up.. You live in Saratoga Co if I recall or there abouts. I'm in latham neither of which are high crime. Good news for ammo. Josh is a lifelong practitioner and student of the gun. After high school, he joined the Marines where his love for firearms blossomed as he qualified with an M16A2, an M9, and a G. Josh has been writing about firearms and tactics for several years, is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, and believes that each individual person has the right to self-defense by any means necessary.

Currently residing in gun-friendly North Carolina, he carries a concealed gun on a daily basis, even in his own house. Great article!! You answered a ton of my questions. Even placing an order and being willing to get on a backlog is near impossible. I will try that with Direct manufacturers and see how it goes. You have made me more willing to take the hit on price and buy from my local guys if they are willing to sell.

Sad, but honest. We print money. Want to open a primer business together? I work with commodities every day. Steel, Copper, Aluminum.

Yes, I agree, Cheaper Than Dirt was guilty of price gouging early on in this. It most certainly is price gouging you are lying to yourself if you think it is not. Large companies like Federal, CCI, Hornady have all been saying that the cost of the materials brass copper lead ect have been going up and that is why everything cost more.

Let me just say this:. The money printing is devaluing the dollar, causing the price of everything to go up.. Priced bacon lately?

I wonder if the Afghan Islamists and illegal border-crossers have better English skills and more sense than you. PS: The only really hatred in America is hatred for white men that just want to go back to work for a decent wage.

You are so blindly ignorant that you cannot see it in front of your face. So this article is just making excuses for manufacturers making record profits off of us. The prices will go down when we do not have left-wing extremists controlling the United States Government.

Did you vote for a Democrat, especially Biden? Nice job, snowflakes. I appreciate the frankness of this article. As you said, ammo prices cannot fluctuate back so rapidly without appreciable losses — an unacceptable prospect for businesses. Ammo prices would go down except that people believe they need rds of each caliber this only drives the prices up, if everyone would stop buying ammo the price would drop because of you guessed it supply vs demand, so stop catering to these sellers and only buy what you need.

Great article and you did hit the nail on the head. I still see customers walk in and go directly to the firearms department and walk out with their limit of three boxes everyday. I can not blame anyone for the uncertain feeling this administration brings upon the United States citizens and not knowing what unconstitutional gun and ammo grabbing laws await.

We are letting the manufactures off too easily. Laziness, money hogging, or whatever, they have left us venerable to this by not improving and expanding their capacity.

IF they were truly 2A partners with us, or even just good business people, they would have made the proper capital investments to meet future demands. ALL businesses have to make these decisions and the ammo industry are obviously poor, poor business people. Just look at all the buy-ups, bankruptcies, and poorly manufactured products in the industry. Dozens of industries have 8 million new customers every year. Those businesses respond to meet the new level of demand.

They also have an established history of not ripping off their customers. Swing by these retailers as you come across them, and you might be surprised by what you find. Another option is good old-fashioned bartering. Internet forums and Facebook groups are great for working trades. Unfortunately, no one knows for sure. But based on interviews with experts, my prediction is that the ammunition market will require two full years to recover from the thrashing it received last year.

If restrictive legislation is formally proposed, buckle up. The market is going to be in for another wild ride. The advancement of non-toxic shot has brought the gauge back to the duck blind. The shortages of everything from.

But getting the ammo to load into those guns isn't always easy. Wal-Mart Stores NYSE:WMT -- long the go-to spot for impulse ammo purchases -- instituted a policy in early limiting customers to buying no more than three boxes of ammo per person, per day.

Wal-Mart lifted the restriction on most calibers of ammo in Other retailers have similar restrictions. And even when. From to , though,. Today, it's not quite that bad.
