Sometimes specific traits will appear on each victim, mostly because that unsub is substituting his victims for a specific person who hurt them, so they find victims with the specific physical traits of that person.
Another important thing to know about the victim is to know what type of neighbourhoods they frequented because that could tell if the unsub is organised or disorganized in his process of capturing his victims. If the suspect chooses his victims, in low class neighbourhoods it can mean that they are victims of opportunity or that it is because it is easier to capture them than if they were to go to a high class neighbourhood where security is a lot tighter.
To sum it up, a victimology profile is created to help give an idea of why this specific victim was chosen. Criminology deals with research into the cause, form and consequences of a crime.
