When is equal pay day
Equal Pay Day marks the additional days from the end of the previous financial year that women must work, on average, to earn the same amount as men earned that year. Does your workplace measure and act to address its gender pay gap? The gender pay gap signifies the fact that the work of women is not treated as being of equal value to that of men. Closing the pay gap is about fairness — the work of Australian women deserves to be equally and fairly valued in our workplaces.
One way employers can act to close their pay gap is to conduct a gender pay audit to help identify and address discriminatory pay, so women are equally compensated and valued. Here are some ways you can join the campaign to close the gender pay gap:. Asian American and Pacific Islander women are paid 85 cents for every dollar paid to white men.
Women working full time and year round are paid 82 cents for every dollar paid to a man who works full time and year round. Mothers are paid 70 cents for every dollar paid to fathers. Black women are paid 63 cents for every dollar paid to white men.
Native women are paid 60 cents for every dollar paid to white men. Each year, many different countries across the globe mark their own versions of Equal Pay Day in the calendar year and put their own spin on how to highlight the gender pay gap.
